Biography

JR DEOLIVEIRA was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and earlier on in life, enjoyed working, developing business skills, learning photography and experiencing worldwide travel.

On his first job, he applied for an entry level position at the Brazilian Government and worked in Brasilia, Brazil on both SUCAM and INPS.

He was qualified in 2nd place among thousands of participants, working in the financial department of the Health Service Ministry.

He followed his passion, and went to school, seeking to lean and then perfect this passion for the English language.

Later on, he moved to Rio de Janeiro and worked for ABREU, a worldwide receptive operator in business since the 1840’s. During the first year, he had a major role in developing and strategizing the Company’s Conventions

Department, achieving the status of official Travel and Receptive Operator for multiple international events held in Brazil with thousands of participants each. His efforts led the company in the early 80’s, to became the main operator of conventions in Brazil.

In the mid 1980’s, JR moved to the USA and followed his dream and passion in the area of business, working for former PAN AM Airways until 1991, followed by VIGO Remittance Corp., leading the marketing and sales efforts as the New England Sales manager in the area and opening and strutting its operation in California.

 

VIGO was a midsize corporation that in his tenure reached the status of Giant in the field of Money Remittance. For 11 years, he helped to consolidate VIGO’s New England effort, growing to some 100 agents, under the leadership of his CEO, Elio Gusmao. The Company was sold eventually for $380,000.00 to Western Union.

 

J.R.’s approach to business and sales experience opened a number of opportunities to relevant companies, in some cases being one of the main voices and guest speakers before the Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, and the DOD (Department of Defense), leading to major changes in the area of instituting new regulations in the areas on testing requirements for electronic components to be used in the Space, Military, Industrial and Commercial industries.

In the early 2000’s, he helped to organize, negotiate national contracts as well as secure financing for the acquisition of a Portuguese speaking radio networking with stations in Massachusetts, Florida and Connecticut, bringing as partners major partners such as Delta Airlines, Toyota, Honda, The New England Revolution and many others.

 

In 2023, he initiated a regional plan in connection with MAPS (Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers), seeking to Create Community within the largest ethnic Community in New England, (Brazilians, Portuguese and Cape Verdeans) with over 1.3 Million Portuguese Speakers.

In the early stages of its conception, JR and his partners at MAPS, Director Paulo Pinto), WBIX1260AM and his VP, Glauber Morare, WJFD 97.3FM, (Henry M. Arruda, Jorge Morais), Boston City Hall (Alvaro Lima), long with the Brazilian Consulate (Tiago Araujo) consolidating the support of National Consulates, Universities, Communication Enterprises, City and State officials, Research groups and OGNS seeking to build COMMUNITY.
The project seeks to create a platform for an entire community seeking to unite, create community groups for discussions, establish strategies and to initiate a discussion in how to properly categorize before the US Government, a multiple groups mislabeled into (Latinos, Hispanics, whites, blacks, into ONE, PORTUGUESE SPEAKERS. His travel experienced, took him, his friends, family and prestige clients into the USA, Argentina, Canada, Brazil, Switzerland, Israel, Egypt, Italy, Albania, Greece, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, France, and Indonesia.

His most recent project is on the way, seeking to bring his extensive travel experience at PAN AM’S GENERAL AGENT in Brazil, ownership of OMEGA TRAVEL, agent at PAN AM Airways in Boston and his extensive travel experience around the world to many through his Enterprise “WE ARE ON A JOURNEY” (weareonajourney.com)
